Toon Boom: Rigging for Production with Sean Francis

Cloth Cat Academy hosted a 5 day course in Toon Boom here at our studio in Cardiff city centre.

The course content focused on Rigging for Production and was led by industry professional Sean Francis. Our attendees were taken through the fundamentals of Toom Boom from turnarounds, importing art, using nodes and establishing a base rig, to adding shapes, creating controllers and applying deformers.

The group explored a full rig workflow from character design to animation layout and Sean was on hand to answer questions and give on the spot feedback. This benefit of having instant feedback on queries is something our attendees noted as being such an important and invaluable feature of the course.

The course attendees left on the Friday evening after a nice pub lunch with some rather nice CCA badges and note books (full of course notes!) to take away with them.

“Its been absolutely brilliant in helping me move forward in upskilling my skills… The staff at Cloth Cat have been really welcoming and friendly, we’ve felt like part of a team and I would defiantly recommend to anyone looking to upskill in the animation industry.”

Just having a new tool on my tool belt of being able to use Toon Boom Harmony and being able to rig characters, will open up so many more job opportunities“.
