Dewin & Doti

Cloth Cat was approached by Iola Jones from Mudiad Meithrin in 2020 to help animate a new story featuring their characters Dewin and Doti. Mudiad Meithrin was established in 1971 in order to encourage the use of Welsh language with children and provide opportunities for learning throughout the community. Magician Dewin and his dog Doti have been key mascots as part of their outreach and featured in a number of books, as costumed characters and on educational materials available to parents and schools.

Our Head of Development, Tom Lucas, worked with Iola Jones to adapt the designs for animation and create a school where the episodes take place. Each film shows children looking for words around them to help build up the magic to power Dewin’s Balloon.

The second film was launched at the 2023 Urdd Eisteddfod in Llandeilo to an excited crowd!
